"Several years ago, after trying two different “in the ear” hearing aids, I visited Dr. Donna Hill at Audiology Professionals. Dr. Hill did a very through examination and found that because of being subjected to loud noises while in the military over 40 years ago, my hearing ability was quite poor. I was missing a lot. Dr. Hill fitted me with the latest “Blue Tooth” tunable hearing aids. What a difference! They almost completely tuned out the terrible background noise from restaurants and my office. I couldn’t believe how much good clean sound I was now able to hear. A few months later, I had Dr. Hill work with my new “Significant Other” who had such severe hearing losses that her voice sounded “hollow”. The difference for her was even greater. Within just few weeks, her voice had gone back to normal. Our lives have changed so much with these wonderful hearing aids. We’re so glad we had Dr. Hill help us. "As a tinnitus sufferer I had pretty much given up hope. Doctors had not given me encouragement about improving my condition. The tinnitus would dominate my thinking at times, a tuning fork type pitch in my ears at all times. I attended a local Oasis seminar featuring Audiology Professionals. After the seminar on tinnitus and hearing loss I met with Dr. Donna and had a hearing test and took them up on a 30 day free trial with the Oticon Dual hearing aids. The result for me has been pretty dramatic. I know that my results are not what everyone experiences, but tinnitus relief for me was immediate, and has continued. My hearing is improved, my tinnitus is noticeably less, and I have received coaching on how other factors like aspirin, caffeine, stress and blood pressure have an effect on my tinnitus symptoms. "A year ago I developed tinnitus -- abruptly and for no apparent reason. I sought help from an ear/eye/nose throat specialist who discovered that I had some hearing loss in my left ear, but was unable to help me. I was told that tinnitus often accompanies hearing loss as we age, and that there isn't much that can be done for it. Subsequently I read lots of discouraging accounts on the internet and my sense of desperation grew. I wasn't sleeping well and the unrelenting high pitched whine in my head was driving me insane. Somewhere on the internet I read that audiologists tend to be the most helpful type of professional for dealing with tinnitus, so I made my way to Audiology Professionals. Dr. Hill quickly determined that the tinnitus was just in my left ear and she thought a hearing aid might help -- even though my hearing loss was not that bad (ordinarily it would not have been corrected). And she also told me to try playing sounds -- like an ocean surf -- at night to help with sleeping. The hearing aid had an immediate effect. Instead of 24/7 tinnitus, it became intermittent. 24/7 drives a person crazy. Intermittent (about 40% of the time) is manageable. It really doesn't bother me that much anymore.
